Food supplements are foodstuffs that are intended to complement a regular diet by providing concentrated concentrations of nutrients (such as vitamins and minerals) or other substances that, either alone or in combination, have a physiological or nutritional effect. 

Food supplements are sold in precisely calculated dosages as pills, capsules, pastilles, tablets, and other such forms; they are also sold as powder sachets, ampoules, drop dispensing bottles, and other comparable liquid and powder forms that are intended to be consumed in precisely calculated small unit amounts.

• Safety criteria
• Labelling (labels, packaging, promotional materials)
• Energy value and nutritional value
• Packaging materials
• Food supplement registration procedures or other matters.

The label must include;

• The commercial term “dietary supplement”.
• The names of the nutrient or substance categories that make up the dietary supplement, or a description of the types of nutrients or substances included.
• The amount of the product that is suggested for daily use.
• A caution not to take more than the specified daily dosage.
• A disclaimer stating that a wholesome, well-balanced diet should be replaced with food supplements.
• A note advising youngsters not to access the food supplement while it is being stored.
